Grady Ernest Patterson (1943-1968) was a joke article created on a website called “thetallestman.com” about a person of the same name.
The Article
The article lists his height as 8 ft 8.25 inches or 265 cm. Which, if Grady was a real person, would make him the third tallest man in history! Although some people list his height as 8 ft 9.5 in or 269 cm which would make him taller than John Rogan! If he was real, that is, which he is not.
The “Doctor’s Note”
The doctor’s note is the second most well known photo, as it shows some documentation of Grady’s growth, according to the note, Grady started out growing normally, however, after falling out of truck at age 13 and going into a coma, he went from 5 ft 4 inches to 6 ft 3 inches and, at the time of the doctor writing the note, his height reached 7 ft 4.45 inches. And, a few years after this note was written, his height reached an almost record-breaking 8 ft 8.25 in, which means, if Grady was real, he would have been the tallest person during his lifetime and third tallest in history! The notes written by Dr. E.L. Tremont, on September 15 1960. Grady Patterson was 16 years old at the time.
Why he isn’t real and the growth spike estimate
The Article was written as a joke and thus proven to be fake, however, if he was real, the growth chart for him would look a little something like this:

---|---|
13 | 6 ft 3 in |
14 | 6 ft 7 in |
15 | 6 ft 11 in |
16 | 7 ft 1 in |
16 y 10 months | 7 ft 4.45 in |
17 | 7 ft 6 in |
18 | 7 ft 7 in |
19 | 7 ft 11.9 in |
20 | 8 ft 0.5 in |
21 | 8 ft 1 in |
22 | 8 ft 5 in |
23 | 8 ft 7 in |
24 | 8 ft 8.25 in |
25 | 8 ft 9.5 in |
Medical photos of Grady possibly real but way way more likely to be edited. Because of these 2 images that can be found in Loewenberg's "Clinical Endocrinology" (1937), on pages 690 and 691.
as you can see the photo is infact fake because it's the same people
